A non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Ran by an amazing group of volunteers, Safe Space provideds low-barrier emergency shelter during the coldest winter months for people experiencing homelessness in Chico, California.

Safe Space also provides cooling stations. Due to extreme summer temperatures Safe Space has operated a local cooling center in Chico since 2021. Utilizing our existing network of community partners we are able to provide ice, water, and an air conditioned space for those who need it.

My twist on this old idiom "As above so below." This for me represents the layers and interconnection to all things on earth and beyond. Through the use of symbols and one synchronized line, the piece represents the layers within the us. Using a side profile to depict webbing as a symbol for time, third eye for spiritual insight, and a heart to reference the balance of the mind and body.
